Psalm 104:27-28 - All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

We’ve heard the terribly challenging stories of when animals need to be rescued. Often in an unsafe environment, officials step in and provide a safer place for the animals.

Where do the animals go? Who helps find new homes for them? Who supports the resources needed to care for these animals?

There are many rescue organizations across the nation. Most specialize in a particular animal species with dogs and cats being the most common. But what about the other animals? Specifically, rabbit rescues? Are there ones near me?

Fortunately, there are organizations like the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society’s mission who rescue homeless rabbits. An all-volunteer organization, their mission is to rescue abandoned rabbits, foster them until they can be placed in good, forever homes. They provide needed veterinary care and educating others about rabbit rescue and care along with providing education and outreach on rabbit care. They facilitate rescued rabbits getting spayed and neutered, foster rabbits as they await a forever home, provide veterinarian care for foster rabbits and assist shelters when large numbers of rabbits are acquired. They also train owners on proper rabbit care and offer sanctuary services for rabbits who need specialized long-term care. They also host community educational events like Bunny Day and hosting hoppy hour events.

Like me, you might be surprised there is such a need for rabbits. With their main goal of facilitating adoption, the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society works with many county and local pet adoption agencies to help facilitate rabbit adoption. Some rabbits are in private care until they are adopted. Their website includes significant information about how to care for rabbits and a library of other resources for those who have a rabbit as a pet.

Like many small non-profit organizations, they run on a shoestring budget. Would you consider supporting their mission this December? If you prefer to support an animal rescue mission in your area, please do so! There are so many good ones out there!

As believers, we are encouraged and actually entrusted to care for all of God’s creatures. Yes, this includes rabbits who need a safe, forever home. Our Monthly Resolution has supported a variety of animal care non-profit organizations. This is our first time supporting a rabbit rescue organization. We pray that you will consider joining us in caring for these animals as well.

Blessings –

Dianne

Grace-filled God – Sometimes, we are called to help Your kingdom in unique and different ways. Help me discern how to utilize the resources I have been entrusted with to serve Your kingdom in the best ways possible. Amen.
