We all have a “before” and an “after.” Moments when life unravels due to loss, sorrow or disappointment. Nothing feels the same after.

Unraveling Together: Sharing the Threads of Grief is a compassionate companion for anyone walking through grief. With honesty, tenderness, and wisdom shaped by her own journey, ordained pastor and author Dianne Deaton Vielhuber invites you to explore grief not as something to fix or hide, but as a shared human experience to be met with grace and presence.

Through real-life stories, faith-filled reflections, and practical guidance, you’ll discover:

  • The many ways grief shows up in our lives

  • Why we’re not meant to carry it alone

  • How pain and joy can exist side by side

  • The healing power of God’s presence in our darkest moments

Whether you’re grieving a loved one, a dream, or a life you thought you’d have, this book offers both comfort and gentle encouragement to take the next step in your grief journey.

In these pages, you’ll find space to pause, reflect, and remember that even when life unravels, threads of hope remain woven by the God who understands grief more deeply than we ever could.

Sometimes, wouldn't it be helpful to have a safe place to explore our grief?

Honest, understandable, and practical information

"This book offers a practical and understandable information on the subject of grief. I appreciated the weaving of real life stories and faith examples throughout the book. It can easily be a resource for grief…one could just read the chapter that may apply to your life currently. I learned a lot from the chapter “Stupid things people say”.

There is a chapter for all grief situations that will come up in life sometime. The book makes one realize the many ways that grief can impact our lives." --  â€‹KC

A brave, vulnerable and important book

"Grief is something that no one can escape yet it is often something we avoid at all costs.  By weaving together many poignant stories, Dianne gently reminds us that there is a cost to our hearts, minds, bodies and spirits if we deny the impact of loss in our lives.  Dianne writes, "When we bury hurt, we deny ourselves and others our best self" -- this resonates with my own experience.  The deep wisdom in this book doesn't come from theory or research but from real life.

You won't find sugary platitudes but tender stories that touch your heart. The everyday reader is certain to find at least one thread of grief that touches their own life. Have you ever struggled with what to say?  Dianne offers a chart of thoughtful phrases.  This book is so comprehensive it's sure to become a valued resource.  I appreciate the Pause for a Moment pages at the end of each chapter.  I felt like I was sitting at the kitchen table with Dianne.  She shows us in so many ways how "grief is not meant to be carried alone."  --  Heather - LCSW-C

The Story Behind the Mary Experiment

When your life is over-full, over-committed and over-scheduled, there is likely a constant struggle to find deep satisfaction in your relationship with God, those around you, and yourself.

Drawing on the biblical story of Mary and Martha, in The Mary Experiment: When DOING and BEING Collide, Dianne explores her transition from over-extended busyness to finding ways to simply sit at Jesus’ feet.

It’s a book about life. Finding an appropriate tension between doing, working and constant activity versus being, sitting and experiencing a more realistic pace of life.

A recovering Martha, Dianne struggles with when to sit. When to do. When to be. When to “git ‘er done.” And so, she created her own Mary Experiment after God spoke to her and encouraged her to create an opportunity for the Martha’s of this world to know they aren’t alone. For Mary’s to learn a little more about their Martha friends. As an encouragement to have both Martha and Mary in our lives.

Love, love, love this book!

"I've debated the story of Martha and Mary in my bible study class with my church ladies.  A true self reflection on trying to do it all. This read is a therapy session on getting it right with yourself, your family, and God. She writes on chapter on my all time favorite verse. Philippians 4:6-7 Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. It's a fast read that will put you on the path to happiness."

I love this book!

"It is well written in a very personal style that so resonates with me! The author understands holding up the "mirror" to me because she's been there! Every chapter ends with questions to reflect and guides the reader into prayer. Definitely recommended! This book keeps inspiring me to start my own "Mary-Experiment". Don't we all so very often feel like " a phone that is running too many apps simultaneously, each sucking the energy out of (us)"? I fully agree that I too need to "close all open apps" every once in a while and make integrating this down-time with God into my life a must!"
